The world pushes back
No character wipe. Your characters, levels, quests, equipment, bank, Shards, learned skills, and owned vanity remain yours. Refresh your game tab to load the matching world and artwork. Storybook and Classic still share the same gameplay and multiplayer world; switch in Settings → World graphics whenever you like. More adventures and polish are on the way.
Sixteen new zones bring the world to 80. Head north from Alderwild into Bellweather Orchard and both eras of The Rootbound Hours, or follow Greyfen into Morrowtide Flats and the two Undertoll sluices. Explore three floors of the Brineburrow saltworks and three deeper layers beneath the Drowned Belfry. Stillglass leads to Gloamspire Castle, with vampires and gargoyles, and Twinmaw Refuge, home to a banished two-headed dragon. Shiverglass opens into Iceweaver Cavern; Cinderbloom leads to the lizardfolk Cinderstalker Outpost.
Sixteen new quests and nineteen distinct named enemies. Start the orchard story with Warden Vale, the tide crossing with Oathkeeper Solan, and continue with Ferrymaster Iona. Prospector Hale, Keeper Anwen, Huntmaster Eira, and Roadmother Tavia offer deeper expeditions. Meet Sir Cawsworth, Mother Thimble, Collector Ninepence, Count Velour, Mother Hoarweft, and Veyr and Vael. New hunts and quests award permanent gear for all nine callings through existing equipment tiers; Clockseed Husks and Unclaimed Luggage Tags join the quest materials. New dungeons have named drops, with their expeditions building toward deeper bosses.
Weather changes the journey. Bellweather cycles through sunbreak, downpour, and thunder: activation hollows flood, and lightning warns where players stand. Morrowtide floods its southern roads, landmarks, and entrances, with synchronized undertows, lighter flood damage, directional currents, and warnings when you struggle for breath. Drain Undertoll wings to reverse their currents and open passages; haunted chests, crabs, and angry books guard the toll. The mill switches between a working past and a rootbound ruin, with moving wheels, worn timber walls, and era-dependent routes.
Old roads have new teeth. Sable duststorms push and damage, with narrow east-side shelter boxes behind windbreaks; quicksand pulls toward the tomb. Howling Tundra alternates blizzards and sudden gusts, with matching shelters. Stormbreak gusts arrive less often and explain their shove. Blackreed gas tracks your footing with a short warning before a light poison; Deadwake swells rise near wreckage; Barrow Abyss grave breath surrounds its seals and named camps. Rattlepick powder traps wake near the gongs with goblin shouts. Tomb passage doors briefly warn before slamming, and Royal Sepulcher darts sweep the king’s chamber from the north and west around the centered sarcophagus.
Fire, ice, and things that are not there. Ashen Crown eruptions fall toward players, with lava around activation points. Burning Jungle vines briefly root intruders and can be fought down. Sleetfen gains freezing rain. Shiverglass and Iceweaver have faster initial sliding, gradual turns, persistent slow coasting, and scattered dry resting patches away from activations. Sunscar heatwaves conjure every local enemy type and false outpost entrances: nearly solid at first, then fading, with no damage, loot, or real travel. Tides, heatwaves, Duskmere darkness, and Bellweather storms return sooner.
Painted hazards and cleaner scenery. Storybook now has animated fireballs, lightning, darts, gases, waves, undertows, traps, and all 53 original expansion hazard fields across 14 zones. Ice glints, bone hooks shift, slicks catch moving light, and pull/push fields flow in different directions; Reduced Motion holds those animations still. Volcanic walls and lava banks fit their surroundings, dungeon walls read continuously, and bridges, crops, scenery scale, and large-creature targeting have received fixes. Classic keeps its familiar presentation.
Clearer routes and names. Rimecross’s north road now connects to southern Galegrave, while Shiverglass stays west and Exaltscar stays south behind its existing quest requirement. Buildings move aside so its northern gate follows the original road; the Blackreed Warcamp approaches also line up. All 172 entrances were audited for nearby road offsets and blocked arrivals. Duplicate NPC first names now read Tessa Hale, Warden Gareth, Vara Ashward, Keeper Anwen, and Neris Crooked-Mile; quest progress and shared family surnames remain intact. The guide’s world map and item-source guidance reflect the new roads.
Completed adventures and earned keepsakes. The quest journal now separates Active quests, Completed adventures, and Story rewards. Thirteen collections cover Mara, Sly, the Wardens, and the newer expeditions, awarding thirteen wearables and twelve new titles alongside Mara’s existing title. Previously completed stories count automatically; rewards unlock account-wide without replacing equipped vanity. Each wearable works in both Classic and Storybook. All 80 zones have music, with existing tunes reused for the newer roads. On mobile, hide the emote bar from the bottom of Game settings or its gear’s Configure Controls drawer; the gear stays available so you can bring the buttons back.
The western road is dressed for adventure. Sixteen zones from Hearthglen through Stonejaw Valley and Ironjaw Castle now use their space more deliberately, with winding dungeon passages, adjusted roads and water, richer scenery, and repositioned encounters. Stonejaw’s orcs have stripped the valley for timber: log decks, harvested stumps, rough logging huts, and smoldering slash piles fill their camps. Listen for “TIMBAARR!!” and move before trees fall in the four logging clearings. These changes bring more exploration and challenging approaches to the western road that most level 1–20 adventurers and new players travel first. Both Classic and Storybook share the updated layouts and hazards. The northern road and its jungle, mountain, and coastal branches now join that polish pass: Northmeadow Plains, Ashen Crown, Lost River, Palecrag Peaks, Khorru’s Ice Caves, Burning Jungle, Cinderbloom Canopy, Cinderstalker Outpost, Drowned Ziggurat, Tidebound Heart, Ember Coast, Deadwake’s Wreckage, Emberfall Peak, and Frosthold Keep. Expect richer scenery, revised routes, and repositioned encounters. Emberfall now erupts with falling fire and ward-side lava; Palecrag cycles through snow and darkness, with repaired quest lanterns lighting the pass and a carved welcome stone marking Kaenor’s hospitality. Thirty saved zone layouts now share the improvements in both graphics styles.
More keepsakes for the road. The quest journal now matches the rest of the interface, and wardrobe unlocks fold into sections by type. Roadwarden’s Pennant now mounts with the pole toward your adventurer. Complete Mara’s story to earn the Hearthbound Forgehammer weapon look, or Bellweather’s Borrowed Hours to unlock a fluttering Clockwork Wren companion. Past completions count, rewards are shared across your account, and equipped vanity stays your choice. Both rewards work in Classic and Storybook and add no combat stats.
